
Silvia Varela Townsend
Ms. Townsend is committed to advancing the interests of plaintiffs in employment related matters and those charged with Driving Under the Influence. She is an experienced appellate practitioner and litigator. Ms. Townsend’s Mexican-American lineage brings cultural perspective to her law practice and has driven her life long interest in Civil Rights. Her ability to speak Spanish also provides ideal access for Spanish-speaking clients to freely communicate their needs.
By virtue of her experience within the autism community, Ms. Townsend is particularly committed to improving the lives of those living with disabilities and protecting their rights in the workplace.
A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Ms. Townsend received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco, School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California – Berkeley. She remains an avid Bears fan to this day. Ms. Townsend was admitted to the California State Bar in 1993 and is also admitted to practice law before the United States District Courts of the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of California, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Ms. Townsend is a member of the State Bar of California, the San Diego County Bar Association, the Latino Lawyers Association and the San Diego Autism Society.
